Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that the first round of technical consultations prior to filing lawsuits to the International Court of Justice to hold Russia liable for funding terrorism was held.

“Today, the foreign minister will inform how we will hold Russia accountable in international courts for funding terrorism. Russia is an aggressor nation and Russia is a sponsor of terrorism in Ukraine,” Yatsenyuk said during the opening of a government meeting on Jan. 28.

“Last week we held the first round of technical consultations prior to filing corresponding lawsuits to the International Court of Justice,” he said.

Earlier, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said that the first round of talks on Russia’s violation of the 1999 Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism was held in Minsk on Jan. 22, and the negotiations would continue.

“During the meeting, the parties exchanged their views and agreed to continue the talks to address the existing disagreements,” he said on Jan. 27.
