The United States is weighing plans to give aid to Ukraine in the next fiscal year, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and National Security Rose Gottemoeller said.

Gottemoeller said at a press conference in Kharkiv, according to the Kharkiv state regional administration’s press service, that the United States had promptly reacted to threats menacing Ukraine and provided $118 million in aid to that country.

She said the aid had mostly been provided to the Ukrainian military in the form of means of transportation, night vision gear, telecommunications systems and other equipment.

Gottemoeller also said that the U.S. was planning to provide aid to Ukraine in the next fiscal year, as well.

She said it was important to broaden military-industrial cooperation between Ukraine and the United States, and that individual promising projects could be implemented even today.

Gottemoeller, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt and Ukraine’s deputy foreign minister, Serhiy Kyslytsia, on Saturday attended a dedication ceremony for the Neutron Source facility, built at the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences’ Kharkiv Institute of Physical Engineering under a Ukrainian-American project.
