You're reading: Ukrainian, Polish rescuers deal on mutual assistance in case of emergencies

LVIV - Chief of State Service for Emergency Situations of Ukraine Serhiy Bochkovsky and Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service of Poland Wieslaw Lesniakiewicz inked an agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in prevention of catastrophes and emergencies in Lviv on Nov. 14. 

The agreement foresees cooperation between two services, details of which is described in the 16-items plan, which is as a part of the interstate agreement signed in Warsaw a few days before, Bochkovsky said at a briefing.

The agreement also establishes the procedure for mutual assistance of search-and-rescue detachments from both countries in case of an emergency on Ukrainian and Polish territory, as well as monitoring, forecasting and predicting emergencies.

“This plan meant for 2014-2016 with possible prolongation. Particularly it concerns the improvement of regulatory documents, exchange of experience and cadets, as well as joint training exercises on prevention of emergencies,” he said.

In turn, Lesniakiewicz said that the signed plan was the reflection of what kind of cooperation between the two agencies could be in future.
