The Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Sept. 29 presented a note of suspicion to the French parliamentarians who illegally visited occupied Crimea in July 2015, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian PACE delegation Heorhiy Lohvynsky said.

“When it became known about this violation [the visit to Crimea], I addressed law enforcement agencies asking for them to carry out a respective examination and bring those guilty to account,” Lohvynsky wrote on his Facebook page on Oct. 1.

He said that the actions of the French parliamentarians are punishable under Article 332-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine).

“From the moment the person is noted of being under suspicion, the process of bringing a person to account begins. Then a measure of restraint is chosen, an indictment is sent to court, then trial and judgment,” Lohvynsky said.

He said he wants discourage those who wish to break Ukrainian laws and disrespect the territorial integrity of the state.

In July 2015 the French parliamentarians who visited Sevastopol (Crimea) subsequently promised to change the attitudes of the French people to the annexation of Crimea.
