Military prosecutors of Ukraine's Central Region have said that a Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) officer, who was investigating a criminal case against Yulia Tymoshenko in January 2012, is suspected of having committed a criminal offense.

The SBU officer, who at the time was the head of the SBU investigative unit in Kharkiv region, committed a criminal offense stipulated in Article 372 part two of the Ukrainian Criminal Code (filing false criminal charges against an innocent person), the military prosecutors said.

The article imposes a penalty of five to ten years of imprisonment.
