You're reading: Ukrainian Health Minister Alexander Kvitashvili resigns

Health Minister of Ukraine Alexander Kvitashvili has written a letter of resignation after losing the support of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, and said he hopes that his resignation will help the adoption of laws on health reform.

“I have decided to resign. When the bloc that invited me to this post without discussing it with me is considering my dismissal, I think the right thing to do is to leave,” he told reporters in Kyiv on Thursday.

“If my resignation helps pass bills that are needed to launch reform, I’m ready to leave,” he added.

Kvitashvili said that at present, the bills on reform are in the office of the Cabinet of Ministers.
