You're reading: Ukrainian Defense Ministry: Militants open fire on soldiers in east Ukraine last night

Weapons were used against the Ukrainian military in Donbas 32 times in the past 24 hours, the press service for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has reported.

“In the past 24 hours, terrorist groups used weapons against the anti-terrorist operation forces along the division line 32 times. In 14 of these attacks, terrorists used artillery and mortars, and 27 attacks used firearms and grenade-launchers. The enemy also made two attempts to storm the positions of the anti-terrorist forces in Avdiyivka, and in the village of Luhanske, near Debaltseve,” the report says.

According to the press center for the military operation, the enemy carried out four attacks near Donetsk in the early hours of March 2.

“Between 9:55 p.m. and 10:20 p.m., the village of Pisky came under fire. At 10:55 p.m., illegal groups used artillery against the positions of Ukrainian troops near Avdiyivka. At 2:20 a.m., our troops came under fire from a sniper in Pisky,” the press center for the military operation said.

The report says that no ceasefire breaches were registered near Mariupol, Luhansk or Debaltseve between 9:00 p.m. on March 1 and 6:00 a.m. on March 2.
