Ukraine's government plans to boost state-run Oschadbank's charter capital by Hr 11 billion, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said at the Cabinet meeting on Nov. 19.

“On the one hand, this is additional stability for the state bank… On the other hand, this is the possibility for the state bank to issue loans to the economy and keep the key sectors of the Ukrainian economy afloat,” he said.

Oschadbank runs an energy efficiency facilitation program, Yatsenyuk said and asked to speed up its implementation.

Oschadbank was founded in 1991. It is wholly owned by the state.

It ranked third among 166 operating banks as of Oct. 1, 2014, in terms of overall assets worth Hr 113.682 billion, the National Bank of Ukraine said.
