You're reading: Ukraine military says militants continuing firing

The press center for the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine said on May 16 that militants "are continuing firing on civilian facilities and the positions of the Anti-Errorist Operation forces."

In the area of Shyrokyne, militants on several occasions opened fire with the use of grenade launchers, anti-tank missile systems and small arms, the center said on Facebook.

“In the areas of Novoselivka-2 and Shyrokyne, the use of 120-millimeter artillery was also recorded. There was a sniper at work there as well,” it said.

In Luhansk region, there was a battle between government troops and militants in the area of Schastia, with militants using 120-millimeter mortars, an AGS-17 automatic machinegun and small arms.

Ukrainian troops were shelled northeast of Lozove with the militants using 152-millimeter artillery and 120-millimeter mortars.

“The Butivka mine came under fire from an automatic grenade launcher, a heavy machinegun and small arms,” the center said.
