Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov will participate in Thursday's session (Oct. 16) of the Russian State Duma's Committee for CIS Affairs and Eurasian Integration, a committee member told Interfax.

“Our exchange of opinions with Mykola Azarov concerning the situation today in Ukraine dominates the agenda,” he said.

According to other sources, the Ukrainian ex-prime minister was invited to the State Duma at the initiative of the committee’s chairman Leonid Slutsky.

The Kyiv authorities have accused Azarov of “exceeding his authority” and have placed him on the most wanted list.

Slutsky, for his part, has declined to disclose any details of the upcoming meeting with Azarov.

“It will proceed behind closed doors,” he told Interfax.

Slutsky, however, confirmed that Azarov had been invited to the State Duma.
