You're reading: Ukraine cuts gas stocks in underground storage facilities by one third

Ukraine has cut natural gas stocks in its underground storage facilities by 33.1% or 5.526 billion cubic meters since the start of the 2014/2015 heating season. 

According to tentative data from the public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz, as of Oct. 20, 2014 16.75 billion cubic meters of gas was held in underground storage facilities, as of January 3, 2014, gas stocks stood at 11.21 billion cubic meters.

Ukrtransgaz said that as of Dec. 31, 2014, there were 11.461 billion cubic meters of gas in its underground storage facilities, 17.9% down on Dec. 31, 2013 (13.952 billion cubic meters).
