Moscow - Croatia is not ruling out the possibility of Ukraine participating in a project on the construction of a regasification terminal on the Croatian island of Krk and future receipt of gas from this terminal, Croatian Ambassador to Russia Igor Pokaz said.

“If Ukraine expresses interest and if all necessary infrastructure is
built, including the gas pipeline [for deliveries from the terminal],
then [Ukraine] could take part in the project and receive gas from this
terminal,” Pokaz said during an interview with Interfax.

“For now I am unaware of any specific negotiations taking place or
the signing of any relevant agreements on this issue with the Ukrainian
side,” he said.

The ambassador also said that construction of the LNG terminal on Krk is a long-term project which is slow to be implemented.

“The construction of the gas distribution terminal on the island of
Krk is still only on paper. No steps forward on the issue have been
made. Even taking the formation of the necessary consumer market into
account, the construction and commissioning of this terminal will take
4-5 years,” Pokaz said.
