You're reading: Tymoshenko warns of danger of Minsk agreements for Ukraine

The leader of the Batkivschyna Party, Yulia Tymoshenko, and President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz discussed the new package of EU sanctions against Russia and exchanged their views on prospects for developments in Ukraine at their meeting in Kyiv on Sept. 12.

Schulz reassured that Ukraine can always count on the support of the European Parliament, the party said.

Tymoshenko said at the meeting that the protocols of truce in eastern Ukraine, signed in Minsk, pose a challenge to Ukraine’s integrity and sovereignty.

The two politicians also touched upon the subject of ratification of the EU-Ukraine association agreement, with Schulz saying that the European Parliament plans to ratify the agreement on Sept. 16 and hopes Ukraine’s parliament will do the same on Sept. 16 as well.
