You're reading: Tymoshenko says new quality of parliament is guarantee of changes in country

Leader of the Batkivschyna party Yulia Tymoshenko believes that the key to the full 'reboot' of the parliament were changes to the law on elections and the transfer to a purely proportional system with open party lists.

‘We cannot select a fundamentally new parliament under old terms, when 50% of the parliament formation remains on a majority basis. This means that the parties of the former regime cannot get through the entrance barrier and they went to majority constituencies,’ she said in the Shuster Live program.

The politician also noted that 136 candidates, who ‘voted for dictatorial laws on January 16, who on Maidan followed the Berkut and participated in the beating of students, who were practically the support of Yanukovych’s regime, are running for seats in the majority constituencies.’

Tymoshenko said she supports the idea of nominating single candidates from the democratic forces in the majority constituencies.
