The National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine has decided to extend Inter TV Channel's license for seven years.

The regulator came to this decision at a meeting on June 11, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

There is no legal basis to reject extending the license for the TV Channel, council member Heorhiy Shverka said.

There is an ongoing claim against the regulator by Maliatko TV Channel, which asked the council to not extend Inter’s license, Shverka said. If the courts hand down a ruling which contradicts the regulator’s, decision, then the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council will rigorously abide by it, Shverka said.

During the meeting, council member Vladyslav Sevriukov said that the extended license costs Hr 4.265 million.
