Turchynov says Poroshenko should table Association Agreement with EU in parliament on Sept. 16

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko should submit the Association Agreement with the EU to the Verkhovna Rada on Sept. 16, Parliament Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov has said in an interview with the Focus magazine published on Sept. 11.

According to the parliament’s press service, Turchynov said that there would be no delay in the ratification of the agreement in the Verkhovna Rada.

“There are votes for ratification. As far as I know, the president should submit the Association Agreement with the EU for ratification by the Verkhovna Rada on Sept. 16, and the parliament will immediately vote for this issue,” he said.

Turchynov noted that the president said he had agreed with the European Parliament on simultaneous ratification of the agreement.

“In any case, we have no right to delay the ratification any longer,” he said.
