You're reading: Third wave of military draft begins in Ukraine

Ukraine has begun a third wave of conscription to draft only those trained for military jobs, said Andriy Lysenko, a spokesman for the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC)

”The draft will focus primarily on those with a military specialty,” Lysenko said at a Tuesday briefing.

A third wave of partial mobilization is under way, aimed at reinforcing the existing units and creating reserves, he said.

“Rotation is out of question,” he said.

“Ukraine has about 20,000 military servicemen who have experience in peacekeeping operations,” Lysenko said.
