You're reading: State Border Service: Seven Ukrainian border guards wounded, two missing after attack on motor boats near Mariupol

The Ukrainian State Border Service has confirmed the attack on two motor boats of the coastal guard near Mariupol, in which seven border guards were wounded and two went missing.

“As a result of the attack on our two border guard motor boats near the populated area of Bezimenne, not far from Mariupol, two border guards went missing and seven were wounded,” Oleh Slobodian, spokesman for the Ukrainian State Border Service, said on 112.Ukraine television on Sept.1.

The weapons used for attacking the boats were not firearms, he said.

The Ukrainian media earlier reported on an attack on a Ukrainian coastal guard motor boat in the Sea of Azov on Sunday afternoon. Photos taken by eyewitnesses, which were posted on the Internet, show think black smoke around the boat.
