About 200 supporters of the Svoboda All-Ukrainian Association gathered on Tuesday, Sept. 2 near the Verkhovna Rada demanding to pass a bill on lustration, to amend the law on electing people's deputies and to hold unscheduled elections to the parliament under the new law.
Activists came to the Constitution Square to the parliament building with Svoboda flags and insignia and posters saying “For lustration, against corruption” and “New election system for new Ukraine,” an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
The Verkhovna Rada building is also picketed by relatives of participants of the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. They demand prisoners be released and returned. Mothers of operation participants hold posters saying “Out you go talentless commanders!,” “We are for peace everywhere,” “Volyn mothers demand their sons be returned from captivity.” From time to time protesters demand the president come to them.
Representatives of Ukraine’s left-wing block have come to the Rada building. They are holding posters demanding social justice be restored.
A stage and Parliamentary Hundred banner are installed at the square.
Law enforcers guard the parliament building perimeter under heavy security procedure.
The 4th session of the Verkhovna Rada of the 7th calling will end on Tuesday, Sept. 2 and 5th session will begin.
