The popular council of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) passed legislation on the interior ministry's interior forces.

“The maximum strength has not been stipulated and will be determined by the interior forces’ command, will be cleared with the interior minister, and will be endorsed by the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the Donetsk news agency quoted Dmytro Perepiolkin, a deputy head of the DPR parliament’s security and defense committee, as saying on Friday.

Candidates for the interior forces will be selected by their command on a competitive basis, he said.

The DPR law is based on an analogous Russian law, Perepiolkin said.

“This law clearly stipulates what the interior forces will do and what powers they will be invested with in case of the state of emergency in the republic,” he said.
