The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has opened criminal proceedings against MP Oksana Kaletnyk for separatism.

“SBU’s hot line in Vinnytsia region received a report from a local resident that on September 30, during a meeting with voters, Ukrainian MP Oksana Kaletnyk voiced separatist slogans, in particular, about the ‘legitimacy of the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR’ and their right to secede from Ukraine,” SBU’s press center reported on Oct. 28.

The investigation department of the SBU office in Vinnytsia region launched a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings under Part 2, Article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine committed by a person representing the authorities) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Kaletnyk is an MP of the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation from the Communist Party of Ukraine. She was one of the first to leave the party faction in May this year after the Ukrainian authorities announced their intention to ban the party for separatism due to events in the east of the country.
