Moscow – The chairman of the State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee, Alexei Pushkov, believes that Ukraine's situation will deteriorate even further if Kyiv bans the transit of Russian natural gas bound for Europe.

“Kyiv’s decision to halt the transit of Russian gas to Europe will
make Ukraine’s situation far worse. [Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy] Yatsenyuk is following the principle of “the worse, the better”. It is
adventurism,” Pushkov said on his Twitter account on Wednesday, Aug. 13.

Yatsenyuk said at a press briefing on Aug. 8 that possible
sanctions against Russia may include a ban on Russia shipping its
resources via Ukrainian territory.

The Ukrainian cabinet submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada,
proposing almost 30 types of sanctions targeting legal entities and
individuals from Russia and other countries.

According to Yatsenyuk, Kyiv’s sanctions list includes 172 citizens of Russia and other states.
