Moscow - Russian permanent envoy to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov said the EU sanctions against Russia will no help de-escalate the situation in Ukraine.

“As to the purpose of these sanctions, I think it’s a loud shot, a
pop, which I would say it not reaching its target because these
sanctions do not reach the stated purpose to de-escalate the situation
in Ukraine,” Chizhov said on a video linkup connecting Moscow and
Brussels on Friday, Aug. 1.
