The Russian Defense Ministry has suspended the transfer of arms and military equipment from Crimea, so they are not used against civilians in eastern and south-eastern Ukraine, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said.

“Russia follows international obligations and it has taken up the
obligation not to supply arms to hot spots in the framework of the Paris
charter, in the framework of the Helsinki act, UN and Organization for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) resolutions,” Antonov told
reporters on Tuesday.

Today, Ukraine’s east and south-east are a hot spot, he said.

“Due to this, Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu has decided
to suspend the transfer of arms and military equipment, which belong to
Ukraine,” Antonov said.

However, this does not concern ships and aviation units, he said.
