You're reading: Russian Academy of Sciences sees no reasons to break ties with Ukrainian scientists

The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) is ready to cooperate with colleagues from the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, RAN President Vladimir Fortov said at a news conference on July 2.

“After all, this is a brotherly nation, it has interesting and strong science fields and we do not see reason to cut ties,” Fortov said.

The Ukrainian scientific community does not have a single opinion on how further work with Russian colleagues will be built, he said.

“Different trends exist there – there are people, who think that it is necessary to re-consider priorities and stance but we have not received anything officially so far. When Ukrainian colleagues have some accorded stance, we will have nothing else to do but to sit at negotiating table and to search for a compromise,” Fortov said.
