MOSCOW - President Vladimir Putin has highlighted a marked improvement in equipment levels of the Russian Armed Forces.

“We have been modernizing our Armed Forces in the recent years and making them modern, mobile and capable of most challenging missions. Last year we improved the aerospace defense network, created a strong contingent in Crimea, reinforced the security zone in the Arctic, and significantly boosted the provision of the Armed Forces with new weapons and hardware,” he said at a ceremony presenting top-ranking officers in the Kremlin.

“The speed of fulfillment of state defense orders has been on the rise,” he added.

“Targets were surpassed in 2014,” Putin said, noting that the Russian Armed Forces had been training hard.
