You're reading: Putin calls on Kyiv for ceasefire for plane МH17 crash investigation

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Kyiv should be urged to ceasefire for the period of the investigation into the Malaysian plane crash.

“We should finally call on the Kyiv authorities to observe elementary norms of decency and cease fire at least for a short period of the investigation,” Putin said at a meeting of the Russian Security Council on July 22.

On Monday, when the militia handed the flight recorders from the plane to Malaysian experts, “the Ukrainian armed forces carried out a tank attack against Donetsk,” Putin said.

“The tanks reached the railway station. It came under fire and the international experts who had come to the crash site could not get their heads out. Did the militia shoot themselves?” Putin said.
