DONETSK - Head of the Donetsk regional administration Oleksandr Kikhtenko said that the Donetsk region had pinned great hopes on the Minsk agreements of Feb. 12, but fighting continued, and that Ukrainian positions have been shelled more than 100 times.

“Since the truce was enforced, Ukrainian positions have been shelled more than 100 times,” Kikhtenko told Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe rapporteur Kristina Zelenkova who visited Kramatorsk on Feb. 15.

During a meeting with volunteers and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s representatives working in the region, Zelenkova inquired about the evacuation of civilians from Debaltseve and urged the creation of a “green corridor.”

“Zelenkova confirmed that she would raise this issue in PACE this week. She was supported by OSCE representatives who pledged to consider the prospect of creating a ‘green corridor’ in order to evacuate residents of Debaltseve,” the press service said.
