Ilya Novikov, the defense lawyer of Ukrainian pilots Nadiya Savchenko, who is charged in Russia with the killing of Russian journalists, has said that the preliminary hearing of her case by Donetsk City Court of Rostov region of Russia may take place on July 31.

“According to yet unconfirmed reports, a preliminary hearing of
Savchenko’s case in Donetsk City Court may be held on July 31,” Novikov
wrote on Twitter on July 17.

“I have such information which hasn’t been confirmed by the court
yet, but we will build our schedule based on it,” Novikov told Interfax.

As reported, Savchenko has been transferred from the Moscow detention facility to Rostov region.

“I have visited the detention facility today and I was not allowed to
see Nadia, being told she has been transferred to Rostov,” Novikov said.

Novikov said it is currently not known where Savchenko will be held.

“We expect to be notified about this,” he said.

On July 13, Russian Prosecutor General’s Office approved an
indictment for Savchenko and sent the criminal case to Donetsk City
Court of Rostov region.
