Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott, during which he thanked the latter for supporting Ukraine and its territorial integrity during the G20 Summit in Brisbane.

“I am sincerely grateful for your incredible solidarity and efforts, which have made the topic of aggression against Ukraine the main one on the agenda of the G20 Summit in Brisbane,” the president’s press service quoted Poroshenko.

According to the head of state, Ukrainians appreciate that Australia has taken a clear position of support for the peaceful resolution of the situation in Donbas and condemned the violation of the international law.

In turn, Minister Abbott noted that all leaders of the democratic world have unambiguously demonstrated support for Ukraine and its territorial integrity in the course of the summit. “He emphasized that Ukraine was fighting for freedom and democracy and the whole civilized world supported Ukraine in that struggle,” the press service reported.

Abbott invited the Ukrainian president to make a visit to Australia by the end of the year.
