Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has approved amendments to the law on military duty and military service and the law on the principles of preventing and countering corruption, concerning the manning of a professional army and simplifying army conscription during a crisis.
Law No. 1634-VII facilitates the transition of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to enlisting personnel on a contractual basis, the president’s press office said on Tuesday.
The law also simplifies the procedure and reduces the time required for drafting citizens into military service in the event of a critical situation that poses a threat to Ukraine’s national security, and for announcing a decision to conduct mobilization and/or impose martial law.
