President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that the United States will continue to help Ukraine strengthen its defensive capability.

“During my visit to New York I agreed with the U.S. leadership that it would supply non-lethal aid to Ukraine. Namely, ultramodern counter-battery equipment. They have a high accuracy [rate] to reveal from which place the enemy is firing at a distance of ten kilometres from the front, and to destroy his emplacements,” Poroshenko said.

He said that the U.S. congress recently took the decision to increase funding in 2016 to provide military aid to Ukraine.

“In November, the US will launch a unique multi-million program for training Ukrainian Armed Forces [personnel] and special units,” Poroshenko said.

Poroshenko said that the efforts of the White House prove that “other rumors on betrayal, the exchange of Ukraine for Syria, are no more than a Moscow fantasy.”
