Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at meeting with U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power has stressed the importance for Ukraine of support from the UN Security Council and U.S. ambassador to the organization and of the high standard of Ukrainian-U.S. cooperation on security issues.

“Our greatest expectations concerning the implementation of the Minsk agreements are related to support by the UN Security Council,” Poroshenko said at a Wednesday meeting in Kyiv, the presidential press service reports.

In this context he reminded Power about his meeting with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on May 8 and the discussion of the possibility of involving an international peacekeeping contingent in the enforcement of the Minsk agreements.
