 Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has issued a cease fire order in eastern Ukraine starting from 6 p.m. Kyiv time on Sept. 5, says Poroshenko's statement published on the official presidential Web site.

 “Proceeding from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s call on the leaders of illegal armed groups in Donbas to cease fire and sign a protocol at the meeting of the trilateral contact group on the implementation of the Ukrainian president’s peace plan, I am issuing an order to the chief of staff of the Ukrainian armed forces for a ceasefire starting from 6 p.m. on Sept. 5,” Poroshenko’s statement says.
