You're reading: Poroshenko: No delays in carrying judicial reform

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that it is necessary to immediately carry a judicial reform, which will facilitate the establishment of the rule of law and efficient protection of rights and freedoms of citizens.

“I do not need court loyal to the President. I, as well as the entire society, need court that protects the law and the citizen,” the head of state said in the course of the meeting with members of the newly established Judicial Reform Council on Oct. 28.

According to the president, society requires the increase of judicial system’s efficiency, thus, judicial system that will ensure the rule of law and efficient human protection must be created.

“I want the level of trust in judiciary to be the same as trust in the army. It is our common task,” Poroshenko added.

The p resident said he believes that judicial reform must be accompanied with the reform of adjacent institutes – fulfillment of court decisions, advocacy and prosecution, while the Judicial Reform Council for its part must become a platform for coordination of proposals in that direction.
