You're reading: Poroshenko: Minsk accords on east Ukraine say nothing about federalization, secession of Ukrainian land

The agreements reached between the Ukrainian government and the separatists in Minsk on Sept. 5 do not envision federalization or the secession of Ukrainian territories, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

“The protocol doesn’t say and cannot say anything about federalization or secession,” Poroshenko said at a government meeting on Sept. 10.

Poroshenko said he ordered that all the agreements that have been reached lately be made public.

“The protocol envisions the resumption and preservation of Ukraine’s sovereignty over the entire territory of Donbas, including that temporarily controlled by gunmen. This territory will be returned to Ukraine’s legal framework as well,” he said.
