Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko expects that the European Union will provide EUR 500 million of donor aid for the restoration of Donbas.

“Today we discussed our plans on the restoration of Donbas’ infrastructure. I’d like to thank Merkel for those decisions we’ve discussed today. These are 20 badly wounded Ukrainian military servicemen who will be taken by Germany using funds of the German government, the creation of a special fund which will be announced at the donor conference in Sept. in the EU where 500 million euros will be provided for the restoration of Donbas’ infrastructure,” he said at a joint briefing with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Kyiv on Aug. 23.
