You're reading: Pechersky district court of Kyiv arrests Yefremov, could set him free on Hr 3.6 million bail

Pechersky district court of Kyiv imposed pre-trial restraint in the form of arrest on the former head of the Party of Regions faction in the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation, Oleksandr Yefremov, on Feb. 15 evening.

The court may release Bakulin on bail of Hr 3.6 million, a correspondent of Interfax-Ukraine reported.

Earlier the prosecutor’s office was demanding that Yefremov be arrested, with a possible bail of nearly Hr 3 million, Press Secretary of Kyiv Prosecutor Office Olena Yakhno said.

The PGO, jointly with the Security Service of Ukraine, detained the former head of the Party of Regions Oleksandr Yefremov on Feb. 14.

“A special operation was conducted on Saturday, February 14, to detain former head of the Regions Party faction in the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Yefremov, who is suspected of criminal offenses under Part 2 of Article 364 and Part 2 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which are abuse of power under aggravating circumstances and forgery,” newly appointed Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin said.
