You're reading: Next sitting of NATO-Ukraine working group to be held in November

Next sitting of NATO-Ukraine Joint Working Group on Defense Reform in Ukraine will be held in November, 2014 and will deal with the development of the defense capability, according to the Web site of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

The corresponding agreement was achieved at a regular sitting of the joint working group in NATO headquarters in Brussels on Monday, Oct. 13. The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Mykhailo Koval, who brought Ukraine’s military and political situation and the prospects of further development to the attention of the attendees, as well as the priority guidelines for the president and Ukrainian government in ensuring national security.

The participants of the sitting were informed of the plans for the development of Ukrainian Armed Forces’ capabilities and the issues of NATO’s support in the realization of such plans. The corresponding practical steps were stated as well.

Besides, the Ukrainian delegation held a number of working meetings with the leadership of NATO political and military structures on Monday. The areas of Ukraine-NATO cooperation were discussed at the meeting in the light of the decisions of the NATO summit meeting in Wales. In addition, the participants of the meeting considered the implementation of the new trust funds for boosting the Ukrainian army’s defense capability, including for the modernization of management and logistics systems, cyber protection, social adaptation and medical rehabilitation of soldiers.
