NATO representatives have expressed their readiness to help Ukraine implement a program to assist in the physical rehabilitation of servicemen of all law enforcement agencies who were injured during the anti-terrorist operation in the east of the country, the press service of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported on Oct. 22.

These issues were discussed on Oct. 21 at a meeting between NATO Trust Fund Project Manager Frederic Peugeot and representatives of the Defense Ministry, the National Guard, the Security Service, the State Border Service, the State Service for Emergency Situations, the Social Policy Ministry, and the Ukrainian Research Institute of Prosthetics.

“Representatives of the alliance expressed their readiness to help Ukraine implement the said program on the process of prosthetics at Ukrainian enterprises and abroad (including the further provision of services to some Ukrainian servicemen in need of special prostheses, in particular, electrical upper limb prostheses),” reads the statement.

Foreign partners also promised to provide assistance in modernizing the equipment of Ukrainian military hospitals and centers for sanatorium and resort treatment, as well as upgrading the equipment of Ukrainian enterprises on prosthetics production and training medical personnel who will be involved in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of Ukrainian servicemen.

The practical implementation of these measures will begin in 2014.
