Germany said there is a need to focus on a Russia's swift ceasefire in Ukraine.
“Russia tries to alter existing borders through threat of violence or even through use of violence…For us the focus is on a swift ceasefire + effective control of the border between Ukraine and Russia,” spokesperson of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Steffen Seibert, quotes Merkel on Twitter on Sept. 1.
During the Bundestag sitting on Sept. 1, Merkel also said that “since the beginning this hasn’t been a conflict within Ukraine, but a confrontation between Russia Ukraine,” Seibert quotes on Twitter.
