The main building of FC Shakhtar Donetsk training centre in the town of Kirsha near Donetsk has been destroyed by shelling.
“On the night of Aug. 29 to Aug. 30, the Kirsha Training Centre was severely damaged as a result of shelling. Direct hits by two shells completely destroyed the upper floor of the main building, which was the on where Shakhtar’s first team stayed and trained. The recreation area and gym have been completely destroyed,” the club’s press service reported on Saturday night.
The shelling led to a huge fire; and fire teams in the centre were working all night. As of 1029 on Aug. 30, they had managed to localize the fire, but some parts of the building were still burning. Firemen were trying to extinguish them.
The press service noted that residential and housekeeping areas had been considerably damaged. No club employees were injured.
