Liechtenstein has blocked former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's and his entourage's financial accounts, acting Ukrainian Prosecutor General Oleh Makhnitsky said.

“Official information has come from the Principality of Liechtenstein
on blocking financial and economic resources belonging to Viktor
Yanukovych and his entourage, a total of 20 people,” Makhnitsky said at a
press conference in Kyiv on June 18.

Apart from Viktor Yanukovych, these are his son Oleksandr and a
number of former high-ranking officials against whom criminal cases have
been opened in Ukraine on corruption charges, he said.

Liechtenstein has blocked a total of $1.3 billion, he said.

Makhnitsky said also that the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office
working in cooperation with the State Financial Monitoring Service to
find embezzled assets has uncovered some companies that conducted
illegal financial transactions and blocked Hr 1.3 billion on their
accounts.

Asked about the overall size of damages caused to Ukraine by Viktor
Yanukovych and his entourage, Deputy Prosecutor General Oleksiy Bahanets
said this damage is comparable to “the state’s shadow budget.”
