ZAPORIZHIA - Men armed with automatic rifles have torn down a monument to Lenin in the center of Berdiansk, Zaporizhia region. A similar monument fell on the outskirts of Zaporizhia a day earlier.

“At around 7 a.m. on Jan. 28, armed men in camouflage uniform tied the Lenin monument in Prymorska Square in Berdiansk to a car and pulled it to the ground. The monument fell but did not fall apart,” eyewitnesses told Interfax-Ukraine.

Local police have not commented on the situation yet.

The day before, another Lenin statue was also taken down in Zaporizhia. According to the Zaporizhia self-defense forces, the statue in Shevchenkivsky district of the city was torn down, breaking into pieces, late on Jan. 27 evening.
