Moscow - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond have discussed Ukraine on the phone.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry press service, the British side initiated the conversation.

“The chiefs of foreign policy departments conferred on the
humanitarian situation in the conflict zone. They stressed the
importance of the soonest and unconditional fulfillment of the
provisions of the Geneva statement dated April 17, 2014 by the Kyiv
authorities,” the report said.

In addition, Lavrov informed the colleague about the efforts made by
Russia in its contacts with international organizations towards
humanitarian assistance to the affected population of southeastern
Ukraine.
