You're reading: Klimkin to participate in NATO-Ukraine commission sitting in Brussels on Dec. 2-3

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin will participate in the events organized by NATO headquarters in Brussels on the level of foreign ministers on Dec. 2-3, Spokesman for Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Yevhen Perebyinis has said.

The minister will speak at the sitting of the NATO-Ukraine commission at the level of interior ministers. A joint statement by the commission is expected to be announced based on the results of the sitting.

According to Perebyinis, NATO member states will be informed of the program of the yet-to-be-formed Ukrainian government, as well as about the progress in the implementation of democratic, defense and security reforms in Ukraine.

Further steps towards deepening and activating the NATO-Ukraine cooperation are expected to be discussed at the meeting of NATO-Ukraine commission. The completion of the preparatory stage and the formation of new NATO trust funds to boost Ukraine’s defenses will be announced as well.

According to Perebyinis, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister also plans to hold a bilateral meeting with NATO Secretary General and foreign ministers of a number of NATO member states and partners.

In addition, the minister was invited to participate in the sitting of foreign ministers of contributor-countries of International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan and future contributor-countries of Resolute Support mission, as well as in a sitting of foreign ministers of the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant).
