You're reading: Kherson regional administration offers OSCE SMM to patrol border with Crimea

KHERSON - Kherson Regional State Administration has addressed the Kherson group of special monitoring mission (SMM) of the OSCE in Ukraine with a proposal to organize together with local border guards the patrolling of the administrative boundary of Crimea.

According to the website of Kherson Regional State Administration, Advisor to the Chairman of Regional State Administration, Ruslan Panchyshyn discussed this initiative with the Chairman of the Kherson SMM group of OSCE in Ukraine Osmo Lipponen during a meeting held in Kherson on Tuesday.

“We sincerely hope for the OSCE assistance. It is better to prevent a threat than to fight it,” Panchyshyn said.

For her part, Lipponen said that he would do his best to convey the regional authorities’ request to Kyiv representatives of the OSCE mission in Ukraine.
