Kharkiv - The leader of the Kharkiv branch of the nationalist Svoboda party, Oleh Debely, who is an adviser to the Ukrainian agrarian policy and food minister, lost his car on Thursday night, July 31 as someone set fire to the vehicle, which was parked outside his home in the city, Svoboda's press service told Interfax-Ukraine.

“Unidentified individuals set fire to the car of the head of the
Kharkiv city organization. The fire completely destroyed it. We link
this crime to the professional and political activities of Oleh Debely,”
the press service said.

The service said Debely suspected that the act was either linked to
his position on Chervony Zhovten, “a state enterprise of the Academy of
Agrarian Sciences, as a result of which the enterprise will be returned
under proper state ownership” or a form of revenge for the dismissal at
his insistence of the head of a local forestry enterprise.

“Appropriate applications have already been filed with law enforcement,” the press service said.
