You're reading: Kharkiv City Council supports Rada resolution recognizing Russia as aggressor

Kharkiv City Council at a special session on July 10 upheld the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada on recognizing Russia as an aggressor state.

“Having considered the request of the chairman of Kharkiv Regional State Administration dated July 6, 2015… Kharkiv City Council has decided to support the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dated Jan. 27, 2015 on the appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the United Nations, the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of GUAM and national parliaments of foreign countries on the recognition of the Russian Federation as an aggressor state,” the resolution reads.

A total of 69 lawmakers voted in favor of the resolution, four voted against it.

As reported, Kharkiv City Council had twice refused to support the initiative on supporting the Verkhovna Rada resolution of January 27 on the Rada’s appeal to European institutions and national parliaments for recognition of Russia as an aggressor state.
