Moscow - Russia hopes that the meeting of the contact group, expected to take place in the next few days, will be held, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said.

“According to our information, representatives of Ukraine, Donetsk and Luhansk are expected to meet in the next few days. We hope this meeting will take place,” he told reporters.

Commenting on the statement made by representatives of the Donetsk People’s republic that they see no point in further dialogue with Kyiv in the contact group and insist on direct negotiations with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Karasin said: “The contact group is in direct dialogue with Kyiv representatives, and the issue of the level of representation of all sides in this format is a separate issue.”

“The contact group envisages debate on practical issues between representatives of Donetsk, Luhansk and Kyiv involving the OSCE and our Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov,” Karasin said.
